Way forward: Virtual Support Group for Women

Way Forward is our support group for all women who are affected by the adverse effects of other people’s gambling.

Our Way Forward group aims to provide a safe, supportive, and secret space for women to share experiences, find comfort, and empower each other.

The Way Forward online session is semi-structured, lasting for 2 hours for seven weeks. This group is led by a trained facilitator who specializes in supporting women who are affected by the adverse effects of gambling.

Every week will focus on the impact of various fields of gambling dangers:

  • Session 1 – Get to know each other.
  • Session 2 – Understand the dangers of gambling.
  • Session 3 – Take care of yourself.
  • Session 4 – Overcoming guilt and shame / behavior that is possible.
  • Session 5 – Overcoming anger and hatred.
  • Session 6 – Experiencing conversation/hope/difficult acceptance.
  • Session 7 – Complete.

Input from previous Way Forward members:

“At the beginning of the session, my mental health was not good. I was really overwhelmed and consumed by everything that happened with my husband’s gambling. I now feel much better, I don’t feel alone anymore. “

“I feel like we have our own family who are also affected. It’s fun to talk and listen with a group of people who really understand. “
