British vs American Culture Differences: What Every American Should Know Before Visiting

British vs American Culture Differences: Tipping

Another question I get that rivals the curiosity about British weather is about British tipping culture.

It’s a lot easier than many Americans expect. Unlike the US, hospitality staff aren’t generally relying mostly on tips to make up their wages, so the expectations are different. In many restaurants, you’ll already find a service charge included on the bill.

The biggest piece of advice I offer in my London trip consultations is- Don’t feel guilty about situations that don’t require tips here. British culture is different.

I’ve explained exactly when to tip, when not to tip and how much is appropriate in my complete guide to tipping in the UK.

One more thing: You probably won’t need much cash during your trip. I can literally go weeks without using any as someone living in London.

Almost everywhere accepts contactless payment, including restaurants, pubs, taxis and attractions. The few occasions where having a little cash on hand is when you want to tip the concierge at your hotel, a black cab driver or a tour guide. Otherwise you’ll likely use your card for nearly everything.

This could vary if you plan to take day trips to other areas of England or take a trip to Scotland (which still uses pounds sterling since it’s part of the UK).

PakarPBN

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.

In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.

The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
