If you’re looking for really fun things to do in London, the Mamma Mia party at the O2 has to be number one. Whether you’re a huge ABBA fan or just looking for a unique experience in London, this immersive experience will transport you straight to a Greek taverna for a night full of food, music and of course, dancing!
I had the pleasure of attending his fifth anniversary Gala Night. With 100% confidence, I feel this is one of the most entertaining nights you will find in London if you like concerts and/or theatre. It really lives up to its name- THAT Party!
Based on my experience, I’ll share with you everything you need to know before booking your Mamma Mia party tickets as you finalize your trip planning to London. We’ll cover seating tips on what to wear and everything in between.
Mama Mia! Party Tickets in London
Mama Mia! The party was located at the O2, one of London’s biggest concert venues. When looking for possible ticket dates, check to see if there is a big concert being held the same night. This may impact your overall experience with more people.
The evening starts around 7pm. While the show officially ended for us around 10:15pm, the party continued into the evening on the evening of the Gala I attended.
You’ll want to stay and dance to ABBA’s iconic hits after the show, so plan to be there for the long haul. If you’re visiting London, don’t schedule anything too early the next day. You’ll definitely want to rest after this energetic evening.
Regarding seats, if I could attend again, I would choose a table in the ground floor courtyard. These are the most expensive seats, but offer the best views of the action. Understandable.
However, no one seat has a complete picture of the entire experience as the action takes place throughout the room. The nature of the show means you’ll be seated with other guests unless you book in a group of 4, 6, or 8, depending on your ticket tier.
For small groups or couples, please share a table with another person. Consider it part of the Mamma Mia party experience.
What to Wear to a Party
When you walk into ‘Taverna’, you will feel as if you have been transported to Greece, with the heat and decor to match. I highly recommend wearing layers.
It can get quite warm inside. You should also be prepared for the moment where everyone gets up to dance. Think evening gowns with Greek motifs, disco-themed outfits, or even jeans if you prefer a more casual look.
I saw people wearing sequins, florals, glowing headbands, and party dresses. The most important item you will want is your dancing shoes!
Experience
This is no ordinary dinner and show event. The Mamma Mia party is a truly immersive experience in London. It has an intricately designed set that feels like a bustling Greek taverna. The show turns into a concert-style event in the final act.
Since you don’t want to miss a minute of the action, you’ll want to leave plenty of time to get to the location. The O2 is huge! You can actually Climb the O2 as its own activity in London. Finding the exact location of the show can take longer than expected. You should allow at least 20 extra minutes for this once you arrive at the O2.
The show itself is lively, lively and full of surprises. There are strobe lights, upbeat choreography and jaw-dropping moments that will make you feel like you’re at an ABBA concert in the Mediterranean.
The cast is amazing and their enthusiasm is unmatched. You’ll be singing and dancing within minutes of the opening number.
The only downside? The O2 is quite far from central London. Consider extra travel time if you live in Central London. But once you arrive, it’s worth trying to escape normal life in London.

Food & Drink at Mamma Mia! Party
Food plays a central role in the Mamma Mia party experience. After all, the show is set at the ‘Nikos Taverna’, where you are treated to a sharing feast.
The menu is designed to bring a taste of Greece to your table, starting with traditional Greek mezze. You’ll be immediately served bread, sauce and olives, followed by Greek salad and spanakopita.
The main course is a plate of braised lamb stifado, slow-cooked beef, tabbouleh with pomegranate and rich red grape jus. Personally, I was disappointed by a piece of beef that our table sadly couldn’t finish. It melts in your mouth amazing!
Food is served family style. This encourages everyone at your table to share. If you’re vegetarian or vegan, there are options for you too. The vegetarian main dish is potato and eggplant moussaka. Servers check on food preferences and allergies several times throughout the evening, ensuring everyone is well served.
For dessert, expect something sweet and traditional Greek to end your meal. And don’t be surprised when the servers break out into songs and dances too. It’s all part of the Mamma Mia party experience!
